DoDDS World Reunion

WELCOME REUNION WEEKEND XX!!

We are a group of teachers, administrators and staff, many retired and many still working, who have taught or are working to educate our military children, usually on a military post or base for the United States Government throughout the globe! Since 1946 these brave educators travelled to a distant location, sometimes bringing their own resources, securing a place to live, setting up a classroom, working in an administrative position, and welcoming the military "Dependents" to the first day of school! We now celebrate those years we gave to America's children and our government by coming together somewhere in the United States of America!

Ground Transportation Options

Note: I haven't found any private shuttle companies as we had at other reunions. I have been informed by the Louisville Convention and Visitors Bureau that they have a Blue Shuttle but it no longer picks up at the airport. You may have to rely on the bus, taxi, or a limo service. The Cosmopolitan Limousine advertises vans, sedans, limousines, and buses. Look below.

Note: Marriott Louisville Downtown has no shuttle to the hotel!

GROUND TRANSPORTATION to DOWNTOWN HOTELS

AVAILABLE OUTSIDE BAGGAGE CLAIM

Hello and welcome to Louisville....a city of endless possibilities!

In no other city can you see Louisville Slugger bats being made, visit the Muhammad Ali Center, see Theodore Roosevelt's "Big Stick" on display at the Frazier International History Museum, visit Churchill Downs - the home of the Kentucky Derby and begin your journey to Bourbon Country all in one day.

Start your visit at the city's new Visitors Center located downtown at the corner of 4th and Jefferson Streets, adjacent to the Hyatt Regency and Fourth Street Live! A mini-attraction in its own right, the 2,950 -square-foot center offers full-sevice visitor assistance, brochures, maps and merchandise, and visitors can learn the stories of two of Kentucky's most famous icons - Kentucky Bourbon, America's native spirit, and Colonel Harland Sanders, founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken.

Louisville also offers scores of fine restaurants with eclectic dining options and a vibrant diverse arts community. Take time to enjoy Louisville's diverse neighborhoods, you'll find many boutiques, antique shops, locally-owned coffee houses, bookstores, record shops, art galleries and original dining option. Shop and dine in one of our entertainment districts: Bardstown Road, Downtown or Frankfort Avenue. We hope you enjoy all the charm Louisville has to offer and hope to see you soon.

Jerry Abramson, Mayor of Louisville

James T. Wood, President & CEO, Louisville Convention & Visitors Bureau
